Electrolyte production declined in June, and the next month's output is expected to continue to decrease
In June 2024, electrolyte production ring decreased 1.1%, and expected 0.9% in July.
In June 2024, China's electrolyte output reached 109,810 tons, down 1.1% month-on-month and up 11.9% year-on-year. The growth rate of end market demand slowed, the overall demand fell, and the operating rate of electrolyte plants decreased slightly compared with last month.
Due to the decline in the price of lithium hexafluorophosphate, electrolyte enterprises in order to avoid the loss of finished products, the inventory willingness is not strong, orders are mostly sold and production. At the same time, the operating rate of the battery company is basically the same as in May, but the electrolyte plant moderately reduced the operating rate according to the market demand, so the output is slightly reduced.
In June, the price of lithium hexafluorophosphate was also adjusted due to the drop in the price of carbonate raw materials and fluoride. This price change is gradually transmitted to the electrolyte terminal, resulting in a small reduction in the electrolyte price.
Looking ahead to July, end demand is expected to weaken slightly, and electrolyte demand will slow further. China's electrolyte production in July is expected to be 108,840 tons, down about 0.9% month-on-month, but up about 5.8% year-on-year.
In June 2024, the production of lithium hexafluorophosphate decreased by 5.2%, compared with an expected decline of 0.9% in July.
In June 2024, China's production of lithium hexafluorophosphate was 14,845 tons, down 5.2% month-on-month and up 12.9% year-on-year. The end market demand growth has slowed, the overall demand is weak, the operating rate of lithium hexafluorophosphoric acid plant has decreased compared to last month. Due to the decline in the price of lithium carbonate, lithium hexafluorophosphate acid enterprises in order to avoid the loss of finished products, the inventory willingness is not strong, orders are mostly sold in current production. At the same time, the operating rate of the cell enterprises compared with May was basically flat, and the lithium hexafluorophosphate acid factory moderately adjusted the corresponding operating rate according to the market demand, resulting in a slight decline in the output.
In June, the price of lithium carbonate and lithium fluoride fell, so the price of lithium hexafluorophosphate was also adjusted. Price changes gradually transmitted to lithium hexafluorophosphate, lithium hexafluorophosphate price fell accordingly.
Looking ahead to July, end demand is expected to weaken slightly, and demand for lithium hexafluorophosphate will slow further. China's production of lithium hexafluorophosphoric acid in July is expected to be 14,710 tons, down about 0.9% month-on-month and up about 0.3% year-on-year.
