402030 polymer battery maintenance tips (easily extend service life)

As domestic environmental protection requirements continue to strengthen, the market share of electric forklifts continues to rise. As the heart of an electric forklift, the life of the battery is directly related to the service life of the entire vehicle. For this reason, battery technology experts will introduce how to extend the service life of battery forklift batteries.

Tips for daily maintenance of lead-acid batteries

      1. When the battery is charged and discharged, the battery liquid level changes:

      (1) When the battery is being discharged (that is, when the forklift is in use): When the battery is being charged, the gas generated in the pores of the battery plates continues to emerge due to vibration, so the battery fluid level will drop slightly.

      (2) When the battery is charging: In the pores of the battery plates, electrolysis of water occurs under the action of current, producing a large amount of gas. These gases will cause the volume of the battery electrolyte to increase and the liquid level to rise.

      2. Regarding the loss of battery fluid:

      (1) When the battery is being charged, especially in the middle and late stages of charging, electrolysis of water occurs under the action of the charging current, and the water in the battery fluid is electrolyzed. Hydrogen (negative electrode) and oxygen (positive electrode) are generated and precipitated, resulting in a large consumption of water in the electrolyte

      (2) The electrochemical reaction of the battery is violent during the middle and late stages of charging, and the discharged gas will splash out of the battery along with the battery fluid, but the amount of splashing is very small, and it will also affect the battery electrolyte level to some extent.

      (3) During the charging process, if the battery electrolyte level is too high, a large amount of electrolyte will overflow and flow to the bottom of the battery box due to the volume expansion of the battery electrolyte. In addition to causing electrolyte loss, it will also cause damage to the battery box. Corrosion seriously affects the normal use of the battery. In order to avoid this situation, the battery electrolyte level must be strictly controlled.

      3. Why should we add pure water:

      (1) During the middle and late stages of charging, the battery produces a large amount of electrolytic water reaction, which is the main reason for the lack of moisture in the battery electrolyte.

      (2) At any time, no matter how the battery electrolyte level changes, the electrolyte must be immersed in the plates (the plates must not be exposed to the battery liquid), so as to ensure that the lead on the battery plates and the sulfuric acid in the electrolyte are fully absorbed reaction.

      (3) The battery should maintain the proper proportion of the electrolyte during operation, and maintain the consistency of the electrolyte proportion between individual cells. Otherwise, it will be difficult to ensure the consistency of all battery performance. The better the consistency of the battery, the better the battery performance can be fully utilized.

      4. How to replenish water:

      (1) It is recommended to do this during the middle and late stages of battery charging, when the electrolyte volume is most expanded.

      (2) Regularly observe and measure the height of the electrolyte liquid level. The liquid level should be maintained within the specified standard range and should not be too low or too high.

      (3) After replenishing water, the battery electrolyte level must not exceed the specified upper line, otherwise it will easily cause the electrolyte to overflow during battery charging, causing the loss of sulfuric acid, corroding the box, and polluting the environment.

      (4) If the liquid level is too low, the electrolyte will be exposed on the battery plates, and contact with the air will cause the plates to oxidize. The specific gravity of the electrolyte will be too high, which will accelerate the corrosion of the plates and seriously affect the service life.
