Fraunhofer Institute and ViriCiti collaborate on lithium-ion batteries
According to foreign media reports, lithium-ion battery experts from the Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems (IVI) collaborated with ViriCiti, which is engaged in real-time data research on electromotive force, to extend the service life of lithium batteries while reducing the Total cost of ownership of electric buses and trucks.
In order to prevent early degradation of lithium batteries, researchers focus on power, temperature, depth of discharge (Depth-of-Discharge, DOD) and state of charge (State of Charge, SOC). In the report, the researchers also analyzed in detail the battery usage during the lithium battery evaluation period and the negative factors of the imaging battery life.
The report also talks about how electric vehicle charging and operating mechanisms can be adopted to reduce battery stress and extend its service life. In order to extend the service life of the battery as much as possible, the operating cost of electric vehicles will also be reduced accordingly. Compared with diesel vehicles, electric buses and electric trucks will be more competitive.
