Looking back at the development process of new energy, China, Japan and South Korea take the leading position, firmly occupying the market share and technical barriers. Due to the energy crisis and low-carbon environment requirements in recent years, new energy has ushered in new development opportunities, which is equivalent to a new industrial revolution.
The United States is in the second tier behind in the battery sector, trying to shake off its dependence on battery imports. At the same time, it should grasp the voice in the development of the new era. Companies, such as Ford Motor, have officially announced that they will invest $3.5 billion to build a lithium iron phosphate battery plant in Marshall, Michigan. Meanwhile, Ford has struck a new deal with battery maker Ningde Times. Under the agreement, Ningde Times will provide technical and service support for the production of Ford's lithium iron phosphate battery plant, and Ford engineers will be responsible for the integration of the cells and the vehicle.
The new plant, called "Michigan BlueOval Battery Industrial Park," is expected to start production in 2026, with an initial design capacity of about 35 GWh and power battery packs for about 400,000 Ford electric vehicles a year. Ford will also consider expanding the plant's capacity in the future. Ford has pledged to invest more than $50 billion in electric cars by 2026. As part of the program, Ford and its battery technology partners have invested more than $17.6 billion in building electric vehicle and battery production sites in the United States since 2019.
Ford is trying to reach its global capacity target of 600,000 electric vehicles by the end of this year and 2 million a year by 2026. The introduction of lithium iron phosphate battery technology will help the Ford Model e business unit achieve its target of adjusted eBIT margin of 8% by 2026. Before the battery factory opens, Ford will offer a selection of lithium iron phosphate battery packs for the North American electric horse (Mustang Mach-E) and F-150 Lightning pure electric pickup trucks this year and 2024, respectively.
Ford plans to add a lithium iron phosphate battery solution to its core electric vehicle market. As part of the plan, Ford struck a new deal with battery maker Ningde Times. Under the agreement, Ningde Times will provide technical and service support for the production of Ford's lithium iron phosphate battery plant, and Ford engineers will be responsible for the integration of the cells and the vehicle. The partnership with Ningde Times will help Ford further increase its battery production capacity and introduce new battery technologies.
Mottcell New Energy: Not only the United States, but also the main consumption and import region of new energy, followed by local enterprises began to introduce lithium battery technology from China, Japan and South Korea. Among them, there is no introduction of complete production lines, involving overseas production and processing of lithium battery materials, cell battery pack PACK. In particular, Germany and France, which power the traditional automobile industry, has inherent advantages in its own technology accumulation. In the future, the development of the new energy field will present a global development trend of diversified and multi-technology routes.
