Why do CR2430 battery catch fire and how to choose them?
The cause of UPS power battery fire may be the quality of the battery, cracks in the casing, or weak cable connection. When selecting, you should pay attention to issues such as the station and technical performance. We will introduce them in detail below.
1. Causes of fire in UPS power supply battery
1. There is a problem with the quality of the battery itself, and there are hidden dangers in the connection between the terminal head and the plate.
2. When the battery is being transported or installed, cracks appear in the shell and are not discovered in time. After installation, the acid inside the battery precipitates and chemically reacts with the battery rack or battery cabinet, directly causing a conductive fire.
3. The battery and cable are not firmly connected, resulting in excessive contact resistance. After the temperature rises, the contact surface is seriously oxidized, which in turn causes the contact resistance to continue to increase, eventually causing electrical sparks or even arcing, which can then ignite nearby combustibles and cause a fire. .
4. The battery pack's connecting cable has insufficient voltage resistance, causing insulation breakdown between the cables and causing a short circuit and fire.
5. The battery configuration is unreasonable and the battery discharge limit is exceeded.
6. The battery connecting cable was scratched by the iron sheet of the battery cabinet when entering and exiting the battery cabinet, causing a short circuit in the insulation layer.
7. The UPS host's charging current is too large or the voltage is too high, causing the battery to overcharge and heat, causing the positive and negative plates to deform and bend, causing contact heating, leading to fire.
8. The external connecting cables or internal connecting cables of the battery pack were not inspected and replaced in time due to long-term use and aging insulation, resulting in short circuits and fires between the cables or between the cables and the battery cabinet.
2. Some things to consider when choosing UPS
1. At the station, in the early stages of operation, one computer plus one printer requires little power and does not require high power accuracy, so the backup type is often used. Nowadays, the number of networked computers and other electrical equipment in each station has increased significantly, and the available power requirements are higher. It is recommended to use online UPS. Online UPS has voltage stabilization, frequency stabilization, zero switching time, and no interference to the load. It is especially suitable for stations far away from urban areas and with large power fluctuations.
2. In terms of technical performance,
First, we must consider the advancement of technology. For example, it is best to have DSP control technology; support economic mode (ECO mode); power distribution type with high power requirements (such as radar) requires three inputs and three outputs (three-phase five-wire); wide input voltage range, etc.
Second, the performance indicators must meet the requirements. Such as higher power factor, stronger load capacity; modular design and high reliability.
Third, the output voltage should have good stability and the ability to withstand instantaneous overload.
3. In view of the all-weather and uninterrupted working characteristics of meteorological stations, the selection of UPS should pay more attention to reliability and should be suitable for long-term uninterrupted work.
4. For long-lasting UPS, the external battery pack must be sufficient and have digital charging and discharging and self-protection functions.
5. If you do not consider configuring a large-capacity battery pack, when configuring a UPS, you need to consider that the UPS is allowed to be used with a generator. At the same time, the power ratio between the UPS and the generator must be determined according to the load conditions. Where it is convenient and timely to start the generator, you can consider appropriately reducing the UPS battery configuration to reduce UPS procurement and update costs. On the contrary, increase the number of batteries configured and extend the battery power supply time.
6. If the additional battery pack is limited by the UPS’s local charging circuit, consider adding additional smart charging equipment.
7. Determine the working time of the battery. Under normal circumstances, when fully loaded, the battery power supply time = (battery pack operating voltage * battery pack capacity) / (host power * power factor).
8. The performance and price of UPS are directly proportional. The more performance and higher the indicators, the higher the price. For example, whether it is a metal shell, whether it has an input/output isolation transformer, whether it has power factor compensation, whether it has SP control, whether it has a large-screen LCD display, etc., each item has added value. When choosing UPS equipment for ordinary stations, it is recommended not to pursue too many performance indicators. It depends on the needs, as long as the performance is usable and the cost-effectiveness is high enough.
9. When selecting UPS equipment, consider the size of the space for placing the UPS power system equipment, the safety of use and maintenance, etc.
10. The brand, credibility and localization rate of UPS equipment are also factors to consider. At present, the performance and quality of UPS of domestic brands can meet the needs, and the after-sales service is perfect, which is worthy of consideration when purchasing.
