What should you pay attention to when using energy storage batteries and how to extend their life?

When using energy storage batteries, please note that at low temperatures, the charging time becomes longer, which is normal. When charging to high power, it will switch to trickle charging mode; do not charge for more than 12 hours, and it is best to place it in a cool place. The following is a detailed introduction to "Precautions for using energy storage batteries and how to extend their lifespan".

      1. Precautions for using energy storage batteries

      1. The charging time of the energy storage battery becomes longer at low temperatures, which is a normal phenomenon. At low temperatures, the BMS will engage the heating relay, request the heating voltage and current from the OBC through CAN, and then charge while heating (or first heat to a certain level). After the temperature is reached, it enters the state of charging while heating.

      2. When the vehicle is parked and charged in a low-temperature environment with high battery capacity, due to the chemical characteristics of the battery, the SOC may jump to 100%, which is normal.

      3. The energy storage battery will switch to the trickle charging mode when it is charged to high power. The terminal charging time will be lengthened, and the estimated charging time displayed by the meter will be biased.

      4. When using the vehicle for the first time or after parking it for a long time, the SOC displayed by the instrument may be biased. It is recommended that the vehicle be fully charged to calibrate the SOC before using it for the first time or after parking it for a long time.

      5. In order to keep the energy storage battery in the best condition, please use charging equipment to fully charge the energy storage battery regularly (it is recommended to fully charge it at least once a week).

      6. To ensure the safety of energy storage batteries, vehicles should be kept away from flammable and explosive items, fire sources and various hazardous chemicals.

      7. The vehicle should be charged and parked away from heat sources and avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, otherwise it will reduce the service life of the energy storage battery.

      8. In order to ensure long-term performance, avoid continuously exposing the vehicle to an environment with a temperature greater than 60°C or less than -30°C for more than 24 hours.

      9. When the vehicle is not used for a long time (more than 7 days), the battery power should be kept at 40%~60%, otherwise the service life of the energy storage battery will be reduced. If the vehicle is not used for more than 3 months, it must be checked every 3 months. The energy storage battery must be fully charged before being discharged to 40%~60%. Otherwise, the energy storage battery may be over-discharged, reducing battery performance, or even being damaged, resulting in vehicle failure and damage.

      2. Ways to extend the life of energy storage batteries

      1. Do not charge for more than 12 hours.

It is best to charge according to standard time and method, especially do not charge for more than 12 hours. Usually, the charging method described in the mobile phone manual is the standard charging method suitable for the mobile phone.

      2. Place the energy storage battery in a cool place

High states of charge and increased temperatures will accelerate the loss of battery capacity. If possible, try to charge the battery to 40% and place it in a cool place. This allows the battery's own protection circuitry to operate over a long shelf life.

If the battery is exposed to high temperatures after being fully charged, it will cause great damage to the battery. (So when we use a fixed power supply, the battery is fully charged and the temperature is generally between 25-30°C, which will damage the battery and cause its capacity to decrease).

Do not expose the battery to high temperature or severe cold. For example, in the dog days of summer, you should not place your phone under the sun to withstand the scorching sun; or take it to an air-conditioned room and place it in a place where the air conditioner blows directly.

      3. Avoid charging after all the battery power is used up.

The life of the battery depends on the number of repeated charges and discharges. The energy storage battery can be continuously charged and discharged about 500 times. After that, the performance of the battery will be greatly weakened. You should try to avoid discharging all the remaining power in the battery and then recharging it. Otherwise, as the number of charges increases, If it increases, the battery performance will gradually weaken, and the battery's standby time will hardly decrease.

      4. Use a dedicated charger

Energy storage batteries must use special chargers, otherwise they may not reach saturation and affect their performance. After charging, avoid leaving it on the charger for more than 12 hours, and separate the battery from the phone when not in use for a long time. It is best to use chargers from the original manufacturer or a reputable brand.
