Analysis of the causes of lithium battery explosion
Moisture content too high
Moisture will react with the electrolyte of the lithium battery to produce gas, and react with the lithium produced during charging to produce lithium oxide, which will lose the capacity of the battery, overcharge the battery, produce gas, and easily decompose water. The voltage is low during charging, and gas decomposition is prone to occur. The gas produced by this series will increase the internal pressure of the battery. When the battery shell cannot withstand it, the lithium battery will explode.
Internal short circuit
Due to an internal short circuit, the battery will discharge with a large current, thereby generating a large amount of heat, and a larger short circuit will occur by burning the diaphragm, which will cause the temperature of the battery to rise, causing the electrolyte to decompose into gas, causing excessive internal pressure. If the battery case cannot withstand this pressure, the battery will explode.
Overcharging
When the battery is overcharged, excessive discharge of lithium from the positive electrode will change the structure of the positive electrode. Excessive discharged lithium will not be easily inserted into the negative electrode, and it is also easy to precipitate lithium on the surface of the negative electrode. When the voltage reaches 4.5V or higher, the electrolyte decomposes to produce large amounts of gas. All of the above can explode.
ˆOuter short
Improper operation or use may cause external short circuit. Due to the external short circuit, the battery discharge current is very large, causing the battery to heat up, and the high temperature causes the internal separator in the battery to shrink or completely rupture, causing the internal short circuit of the lithium battery. exploded.
In terms of battery safety and redundant design, qualified LR44 battery and lead-acid batteries can fully guarantee the safety of users, and there is no obvious safety difference. Are lithium or lead-acid batteries safe? The safety factor of LR44 battery is still very high at this stage, but why do so many electric vehicles use them as power sources? If you want to use it safely for a long time, I think buying LR44 battery is still a reliable choice!
