      On June 30, the National 18650 lithium ion battery 3.7v Innovation Center held its founding meeting, with the purpose of integrating research resources and striving to achieve breakthroughs in the core technology of power batteries. The National 18650 lithium ion battery 3.7v Innovation Center will use Guolian Corporation as an important partner organization, bringing together many large automobile groups such as FAW, Dongfeng, and BAIC. Public information shows that the shareholders of Guolian Automotive 18650 lithium ion battery 3.7v Research Institute Co., Ltd. include Beijing Nonferrous Metals Research Institute, Tianjin Lishen Battery Co., Ltd., etc.

      At this conference, Gan Yong, former vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and leader of the expert group of the National Manufacturing Innovation Center, said that the establishment of the National Innovation Center mainly solves the problem of concentrating innovation capabilities, concentrating high-end R&D teams, and making breakthroughs in the core technology of power batteries. At present, the cruising range of my country's power batteries is 30% to 40% lower than that of Japan and South Korea. In addition, the manufacturing cost is high and the system life is insufficient. The battery needs to be replaced in about 5 to 8 years.

      Domestic power batteries are mainly lithium iron phosphate batteries or ternary batteries. Compared with lithium iron phosphate batteries, ternary batteries have higher energy density, stronger standard voltage, and the cells take up less space. At the same time, as the heart of an electric vehicle, the endurance of the 18650 lithium ion battery 3.7v is also very important. The cruising range and energy storage of ternary batteries are stronger than traditional lithium batteries. Lithium batteries degrade by 3% per month, while ternary batteries only decay by 1% to 2% per month after repeated use. Recently, many domestic mainstream automobile manufacturers have stated that they have produced and used ternary batteries.

      Judging from the new energy vehicle production and sales data of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, my country's electric vehicle industry has entered a rapid growth channel. The demand for power batteries, which are essential for electric vehicles, has also increased. At present, ternary materials are mostly used in the field of passenger cars. As the main demand side of ternary batteries, while policy support for many models continues to increase, the demand for domestic ternary materials is also growing rapidly.

      Previously, the "Key Special Implementation Plan for New Energy Vehicles under the National Key R&D Plan" issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology clearly stated that the single battery indicator of car power batteries will reach 350Wh by 2020, and the system will reach more than 250Wh. A research report from Zhongtai Securities predicts that by 2020, ternary materials for vehicles will reach 200,000 tons, with an average annual growth rate of 54%. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology predicts that in 2018, the shipment volume of ternary batteries is expected to surpass lithium batteries for the first time and become the mainstream material for endurance batteries. The ternary battery industry is expected to usher in accelerated growth and further occupy the market share of power batteries.
