3.7v 18650 lithium battery technology is unlikely to have a breakthrough in a few years

Guo Konghui, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and honorary dean of the School of Automotive Engineering of Jilin University, said that subsidies for new energy vehicles will promote the development of upstream companies such as lithium batteries, but at present, it is difficult for lithium batteries to meet the market demand for pure electric vehicles within three to five years.

At the 8th Beijing International Forum on Power Lithium-ion Battery Technology and Industry Development held at the Capital Hotel on September 26, Academician Guo Konghui said on the sidelines of the forum that the new round of new energy vehicle subsidies for pure electric vehicles has been decreasing year by year, showing that This has strengthened the government’s determination to force companies to promote the marketization of new energy vehicles.

Guo Konghui said that relying on government subsidies for the development of new energy vehicles is not a long-term solution. At present, lithium-ion battery technology is far from reaching the level of large-scale marketization. 3.7v 18650 lithium battery technology has also made certain breakthroughs in recent years, but it is difficult to see marketization prospects in the next five years. Guo Konghui said that micro electric vehicles are a bright spot in the development of electric vehicles. They can basically achieve profits and feed back scientific research without subsidies. However, the National Development and Reform Commission and other departments do not recognize it.

Academician Guo Konghui believes that most electric vehicles currently within the scope of new energy vehicle subsidies have not been recognized by the market. In early 2013, seven academicians including Guo Konghui, Yang Yusheng, Chen Qingquan, Tian Shaowu, Peng Suping, Gu Guobiao, and Han Yingduo jointly suggested that micro electric vehicles should be the breakthrough point for new energy vehicles, and that electric vehicles with a maximum speed of 80km/h and a cruising range of less than 80km should be given With the qualification of a new energy vehicle, it is recommended that the vehicle be allowed to register a license plate and be put on the road.

At present, most car companies such as SAIC Group, Guangzhou Automobile Group, Jianghuai Automobile, Changan Automobile, and BYD are involved in the new energy vehicle business.
