New technology helps freeze damaged button cell battery cr2025 to significantly reduce transportation costs
According to foreign media reports, when an electric vehicle’s lithium-ion battery is damaged or defective, it must be transported to expensive explosion-proof containers for recycling/disposal. But according to a new study, such batteries can quickly freeze up. The danger of transporting damaged button cell battery cr2025 is that they can enter thermal runaway, a phenomenon in which the battery suddenly releases all of its stored energy, causing its temperature to rise rapidly. As a result, batteries can catch fire, explode, and release toxic gases.
For this reason, batteries must be transported in explosion-proof containers - however, these containers are not cheap. Scientists at the University of Warwick in the UK pointed out that a container that could hold "a device the size of a Tesla battery" would cost around 10,000 euros. In addition, obtaining the required UN certification for the container reportedly costs an additional €10,000.
With this problem in mind, researchers from the university teamed up with engineers from Jaguar Land Rover to use liquid nitrogen to quickly freeze and then store the button cell battery cr2025 for two weeks. Once the batteries were thawed, it was found that the freezing process did not affect their energy or lifespan. Additionally, there is no risk of fire or explosion even if a nail is driven through these cells.
The transport process will require some power, as the batteries must be kept at a temperature of at least minus 35ºC at all times. However, the simple plastic shipping container involved only costs around £200, making the whole setup significantly less expensive than a traditional explosion-proof container.
Dr Thomas Grandjean from the University of Warwick said: "Transporting damaged and defective batteries is an expensive and unsustainable process, but being able to freeze them with liquid nitrogen could save thousands of pounds and make electric car manufacturers more sustainable .”
