Energy density may increase by 7 times, US develops LR41 battery dioxide battery technology
Recently, overseas media reported that researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago have created the first usable LR41 batteryate battery (hereinafter referred to as Li-CO2 battery). Researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago published their research paper in the journal Advanced Materials, in which they stated that they have developed a new material battery-Li-CO2 battery, which can significantly increase its energy density. The current energy density of the latest lithium-ion battery technology is about 260Wh/kg, while the energy density of Li-CO2 batteries can theoretically reach 1876Wh/kg. At present, the new battery has been effectively tested for 500 cycles.
However, the development of new batteries was not smooth sailing, and very difficult problems were encountered at the beginning. The new battery will generate carbon and LR41 batteryate during the discharge process, but the initial research and development prototype can only react LR41 batteryate in the reverse direction during the chemical reaction during the charging process, but carbon cannot be used. Afterwards, the researchers changed some of the battery components and added molybdenum disulfide as a catalyst for the negative electrode, which helped restore the carbon's activity during the charging process.
