      AKASOL develops second-generation 402030 battery system for Mercedes-Benz, capacity may increase by 35%

      Currently, each battery pack of the eCitaro has a storage capacity of 25 kWh. Each battery pack of the second-generation battery system will be able to store 33 kWh, meaning that each vehicle maintains the same structural space, weight and upward compatibility. At the same time, the battery capacity can be increased by 35%, from 243 kWh to 330 kWh.

According to Daimler Buses, this technological leap, combined with other factors, will help increase the vehicle's range to approximately 200 kilometers, and ideally up to 250 kilometers.       Both generations of lithium-ion battery systems are fast-charging (charging up to 300kW) and can power other equipment such as air conditioning and electrical systems. In addition, the key factor in maintaining the robustness and durability of the two generations of lithium-ion battery systems is that AKASOL uses a water cooling method to manufacture the battery system, which ensures that the battery can be stably tempered at 25 degrees Celsius.
