On January 10, China Tower announced the 2021-2022 lithium titanate battery (version 1.0) product bidding project. The bidders include China Tower and its tower energy company, with an estimated purchase volume of 0.68GWh.
The number of successful bidders is 2, and the corresponding shares are 60% and 40% respectively. The maximum bidding price excluding tax set for procurement is 1.947 yuan/Wh.
It is worth mentioning that the centralized procurement project of China's iron tower replacement batteries is mainly lithium iron phosphate batteries. Recently, the 2021-2022 lithium iron phosphate battery swap (version 3.0) has also launched a tender, with an estimated purchase volume of 1.036.8GWh and an estimated scale of 800,000 units. The maximum bid price excluding tax is 1.283 yuan/Wh.
And China Tower's 2021-2022 transitional lithium iron phosphate battery replacement battery products have also recently announced the winning bid list. Among them, Penghui Energy was the first candidate to win the bid, with a bid price of 204 million yuan.
From the perspective of technical route, lithium iron phosphate battery has high safety, long cycle life and relatively low price.
It should be noted that lithium iron phosphate batteries are suitable for the vast number of normal temperature areas in China, and the bottleneck of low temperature performance needs to be further broken through.
Lithium titanate batteries are suitable for some low-temperature areas in the three northeastern provinces, Inner Mongolia, northwestern provinces and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei due to their excellent low-temperature performance, but their disadvantage is that the current price is relatively high.
It is not difficult to see that the technical route of China's iron tower battery replacement battery is forming an application pattern dominated by lithium iron phosphate batteries and supplemented by lithium titanate batteries.
From the perspective of demand, Tower Energy, as the largest light vehicle battery swap operator in the country, has been steadily increasing its market share.
As of July 2021, Tower Energy has opened 260 cities, deployed more than 40,000 grid swap points, served more than 500,000 users, has a market share of over 50%, and has an average daily power swap of more than 1.2 million times. It is expected that by 2022, the size of the battery swap network will double in size, serving more than 1 million users.
