Analysis on the current status of research and development of aaa alkaline battery technology for electric vehicles?

The prerequisite for solving a series of issues and fully popularizing EVs is to realize high-performance batteries that surpass existing lithium-ion batteries. At present, various countries, research institutions and enterprises are promoting relevant research and development, and practical application is highly anticipated.

Vehicle-mounted secondary battery-related technologies have become popular. The background is that countries around the world are strengthening carbon dioxide emission regulations. For example, California's ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle) Act, Europe's Carbon Dioxide Act, and China's environmental regulations will all become more stringent in the future.

As an effective measure to cope with emission regulations, major automakers have placed high hopes on electric vehicles such as hybrid vehicles (HEVs) and pure electric vehicles (EVs), and each company is working hard to promote development. Large car manufacturers that have been inactive in the past will not be able to avoid this problem in the future. Not only that, if this series of environmental bills are not responded to in a timely manner, it may even be related to the survival of the company.

For example, the previous target automobile manufacturers of the U.S. ZEV Act were General Motors (GM), Ford Motor, and Chrysler (now Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) in the United States, as well as six Japanese companies: Toyota, Honda, and Nissan. But starting in 2018, Volkswagen, BMW, Daimler, Mazda, and Hyundai Group will also become applicable. These target companies that were added later will naturally accelerate the development of electric vehicles in the future.

A wide variety of electric vehicles

Electric vehicles can be divided into several categories based on the technology used. The ones that everyone is more familiar with should be HEV (plug-in hybrid) and EV (pure electric vehicle). More than 15 years have passed since Toyota launched the Prius in 1997, and it has now entered a period of popularity. Toyota is definitely the leader in this field, and Honda is also quite competitive. Among U.S. manufacturers, Ford is vigorously promoting the development of HEVs, but it is still far behind Japanese manufacturers. The market penetration rate of HEV is also very high among electric vehicles, and European manufacturers will also actively develop HEV in the future.

Let’s review the market trends of EVs. EVs had a low market evaluation before 2012, and Nissan’s LEAF and Mitsubishi’s i-MiEV have been struggling to support themselves. The reason is that it cannot solve the problems of short battery life, long charging time, and high price.
