      Information and precautions required for separate shipment of UN38.3 lithium batteries to PI965

      1) Information required for separate shipment of UN38.3 lithium batteries to PI965

      With the increasing transportation of goods containing lithium batteries such as mobile phones and laptops, the risks to the safe operation of airlines are also increasing. When lithium batteries are transported by air, airlines require customers to provide a UN38.3 test report. The different shipping methods for lithium batteries require different information for UN38.3 certification. When the battery is shipped separately, the following information needs to be provided.

      IP 965 II/IB lithium batteries shipped separately (in regular packaging/in dangerous goods packaging)

      1. A minimum of 30 single batteries (16 finished products and 25 battery cells (for mobile power supplies and similar products))

      7. Power of Attorney

      8. Transportation declaration and accompanying documents

      9. Battery Guarantee

      10. Declaration of new transportation requirements

      7. Power of attorney, 8. Transportation statement and accompanying documents, 9. Battery guarantee letter, and 10. Declaration of new transportation requirements all need to be stamped and original documents provided.

      2) UN38.3 Precautions for separate transportation of lithium batteries PI965

      Lithium batteries undergo UN38.3 testing for aviation transportation needs. If shipped separately, attention should be paid to the following items to ensure safe transportation and arrival of lithium batteries:

      1. The State of Charge (SoC) of the shipped battery shall not exceed 30%;

      2. Prohibit passenger aircraft transportation (UN3480, including PI 965 Section IA, Section IB, Section II);

      3. The outer packaging must be labeled with a cargo transport only label;

      4. The packaging of PI 965 Section II can only be one package. If it is labeled as Overpack with other goods, the label must reflect it;

      5. PI 965 Section II packaging must be transported and delivered separately from other goods to the user, and must not be placed in the same container (ULD) before delivery to the user;

      Packaging must use rigid materials, including Section IB and Section II.

      Do 18650 lithium batteries come with protective plates?

      Single 18650 lithium batteries and lithium battery packs produced and sold by legitimate manufacturers come with protective boards, but it is not ruled out that some counterfeit manufacturers do not add protective board circuits in order to reduce costs. Currently, most 18650 lithium batteries sold on the market come with protective measures on each individual cell, making them relatively safe and reliable to use.
