      Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission issued the "Automotive Industry Investment Management Regulations", canceling the requirement that "the specific energy of energy-type vehicle power batteries should not be less than 300Wh/kg, and the system specific energy should not be less than 220Wh/kg." An obvious trend is that the pursuit of energy density at the policy level is becoming more rational and realistic.

      However, high safety, long battery life, and long life are still the core needs of the market. Therefore, under the pressure of market orientation and competition, power battery companies have continued to pursue research and development to improve energy density while taking into account the safety, cycle life and cost of power batteries.

      On the afternoon of the 19th, at the "Passenger Cars and Three Electrics Special" sponsored by Guoxuan Hi-Tech, Dr. Cao Hui, Chairman of Ruipu Energy Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Ruipu Energy"), delivered a speech on "The Key to the Safety Design of High-Specific Energy Batteries" Technology" wonderful keynote speech.

      Dr. Cao Hui said that high-specific energy power batteries face more safety challenges, including safety hazards caused by manufacturing defects; effective early warning of thermal runaway; safety hazards and accidents caused by charging; full life cycle safety assessment; thermal runaway induction and spread suppression technology, etc.

      In response to this, the solution provided by Ruipu Energy is to start from the four major aspects of cell material selection, pole core design, cell process technology, and cell process environment.

      In terms of battery core material selection, Ripu Energy has extremely high requirements for the selection of positive active materials and ceramic separators, the configuration of functional and safe electrolytes, and the selection of negative electrode materials and interface characteristics, including high-quality Design of safety shell cover structure.

      In terms of pole core design, the company independently developed a solid-state pole core design; it paid attention to the rationality of the design size of the positive and negative pole pieces and the alignment of the positive and negative pole pieces in the pole core, and at the same time strengthened the reliability of the welding of the pole tabs and cover plates.

      In terms of the cell manufacturing process, we strictly control burrs and dust; predict and control the impact of the process on the interface; the impact of laser welding on battery safety; eliminate the introduction of foreign matter during the entire process; and strengthen the laser welding strength of the shell cover.

      In terms of battery cell manufacturing environment, a humidity control environment of less than 2% is maintained; dust is strictly controlled throughout the entire process.

      At present, Ruipu Energy's 7914897 square battery adopts a ternary system, with a nominal capacity of 155Ah, an energy density of 220Wh/kg, and a cycle life of more than 2,000 times.

      Regarding the 2019 vehicle battery plan, Cao Hui revealed that Ruipu’s ternary system monomer cycle life will reach more than 2,000 times; the module cycle will exceed 1,500 times; the lithium iron phosphate system monomer cycle life will exceed 4,000 times; 45-degree cycle More than 2500 times; meets the three typical temperature charge and discharge cycle requirements of -10°C/25°C/45°C.

      It is understood that Ruipu Energy is a subsidiary established by Tsingshan Group with an investment of 1.73 billion in 2017. Tsingshan Group is currently the world's largest stainless steel and iron-nickel manufacturer. Measured in terms of metallic nickel, the output of nickel products in 2017 ranked second in the world. In 2017, Tsingshan Group's operating income reached 161.5 billion yuan, ranking 110th among the Top 500 Chinese Enterprises in 2018 and 23rd among the Top 500 Chinese Private Enterprises in 2018.       Ruipu Energy is mainly engaged in the R&D, production and manufacturing of new energy vehicle power batteries and grid energy storage batteries, covering two technical routes: ternary and lithium iron phosphate. Currently it has a Wenzhou manufacturing base and a Shanghai R&D center.

      In terms of production capacity, the company's first-phase project production capacity is planned to be 3GWh. The civil construction of the 100,000-square-meter factory building has been completed. It entered trial production in October 2018 and was officially put into production at the end of November. The company plans to add 5GWh of power battery production capacity in the second phase of the project, and the project is expected to be completed and put into production in 2020. By then, the company is expected to have a total production capacity of 8GWh.
