According to foreign media reports, as battery vehicle (EV) battery life continues to lengthen, people's anxiety about range may gradually subside. However, compared with gasoline vehicles, the time required for EV charging is still a headache. The problem. However, fast charging technology is expected to solve this problem and will attract the attention of large EV battery suppliers.
LG Chem, the battery supplier to Porsche and Audi, is betting on another battery technology. The company joins an investment in Enevate, a startup focused on developing silicon-led lithium-ion batteries. Its system is called HD-Enetry technology, and it claims that it only takes 5 minutes to charge the battery to 75%; if it takes 15 minutes, you can see 90% of the battery.
Enevate says their batteries charge eight times faster than traditional batteries and more than five times faster than "fast" lithium-ion batteries. At the same time, the energy density of its battery is four times that of traditional batteries. This may mean that future EV batteries will be smaller but support longer driving range.
In addition, Enevate’s battery can operate at temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees. Cold weather is one of the biggest challenges EVs currently face. As temperatures drop, their efficiency drops significantly. Enevate points out that its battery can also charge faster under regenerative braking conditions, replenishing energy by slowing down or driving downhill.
