According to overseas media reports today, an Indian technology company called Gegadyne Energy announced today the results of a battery research and development. The new battery can fully charge an electric vehicle (EV) in 15 minutes. The technology has been patented and may be used in the future. Commercialization will be achieved in 2020.
As the current main power source for electric vehicles, traditional lithium-ion batteries have problems such as high cost, slow charging speed and short lifespan. These problems have seriously affected the promotion and development of electric vehicles. Gegadyne Energy recently announced that they are using Static charge storage and fast Faradaic kinetic reaction technology can solve the shortcomings of traditional lithium-ion batteries. Ameya Gadiwan, chief technology officer of Gegadyne Energy, added that the research on this battery is mainly to replace existing batteries, and the new batteries will be mainly provided to electric vehicles in cylindrical, soft-pack and square forms.
News released by Gegadyne Energy shows that they are currently developing new battery prototypes and battery packs. The batteries will be submitted to third-party inspection and will be trial-produced in small batches within the next 12 months. The cost of the battery pack is close to that of traditional lithium-ion batteries, but the cycle life of the battery is about 50 times longer than that of traditional batteries, and it charges faster, allowing it to fully charge an electric vehicle (EV) in 15 minutes.
