Compressed air energy storage mainly includes supplementary combustion and non-supplementary combustion.

      Deputy Director Zheng Tianwen mentioned that compressed air energy storage power generation is still a new concept and a new technology in my country, which has important social significance and economic value. In terms of scale, compressed air energy storage is second only to pumped hydro energy storage and is suitable for building large-scale energy storage power stations. The compressed air energy storage system has a long working time and can continue to work for several hours. It can even store electricity across quarters, which is conducive to solving problems in our country. Problems such as wind abandonment, light abandonment, and water abandonment; in terms of construction costs and operating costs, compressed air energy storage is lower than sodium-sulfur batteries or flow batteries, and is equivalent to pumped storage power stations, and has good economic benefits; in terms of safety The raw material used in compressed air energy storage is air, which does not burn, has no risk of explosion, has zero carbon emissions and does not produce any toxic or harmful gases.

      Chairman Yi Yunping proposed that compressed air energy storage using salt caverns as a new energy storage carrier is not only one of the most effective and economical means of eliminating geological disaster risks in industrial salt caverns, but also a good opportunity for the salt industry to achieve structural transformation and development. He said that Sichuan has abundant salt cave resources, which will provide favorable conditions for the development and promotion of Sichuan salt cave compressed air energy storage technology.
