Recently, foreign media reported that Renault plans to build an advanced battery energy storage system, aiming to become Europe's largest second energy storage center by 2020. The total capacity of the energy storage system will gradually increase to 60,000 kilowatt-hours or 70,000 kilowatt-hours, but they will not be built together, but will be scattered across France and Germany.
It is understood that the first three energy storage centers will be installed in early 2019, located at Renault plants in Douai and Clement, France, and a power plant in Germany. This project is completed by Renault, Mitsui Group and others. The purpose of this system is to adjust the difference between power consumption and production within a certain period of time, increase the proportion of renewable energy in the energy structure, maintain the balance of supply and demand in the power grid, and provide sufficient electric energy for new energy vehicles in the future.
