A cylindrical battery with lithium metal as the negative electrode, thionyl chloride (sulfoxide chloride) as the positive electrode and electrolyte. It is charged upon assembly and has a voltage of 3.6V. It is one of the most stable types of batteries with the highest capacity per unit volume (mass) at present. Suitable for use on electronic instruments and equipment that cannot be frequently maintained, providing subtle currents.
Other lithium batteries include lithium-ferrous sulfide batteries, lithium-sulfur dioxide batteries, etc.
