Recently, Samsung Electronics announced that the company’s research institute, Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT), has developed a new graphene battery technology that increases the capacity of the new battery by 45%, increases the charging speed by 5 times, and extends the battery life. .

It is understood that graphene is extremely conductive and durable, and scientists are looking for various applications of this material. A South Korean research team also used this material to produce an OLED screen in April this year. Graphene battery is a new energy battery developed by utilizing the characteristics of lithium ions that shuttle rapidly and massively between the surface of graphene and electrodes.

SAIT claims that if the existing lithium battery takes one hour to be fully charged, with this new "graphene ball" technology, it can be shortened to 12 minutes. SAIT added that lithium batteries using graphene balls can also maintain the temperature at 60 degrees Celsius, and the new batteries are also expected to be used in electric vehicles.

Now, Samsung has applied for patents for this technology in South Korea and the United States. With Samsung announcing its successful development of graphene battery technology, it indicates that the global battery industry will usher in a revolution, and the day will not be far when smartphones will use new battery technology.
