The development of energy diversification has become a consensus. In recent years, new energy vehicles have gradually replaced fuel vehicles and become a new trend in the development of the automobile industry. As the core of new energy vehicles, the development of power batteries is crucial. According to statistics, in the first quarter of 2019 alone, there were 20 power battery production expansion projects at home and abroad, with a total production capacity of more than 200GWh. For our country, with the support of policies and the efforts of all parties, power batteries have achieved remarkable results. Analysts from Sutu Research Institute collected and compiled relevant public data on the domestic power battery industry in Q1 2019 and cooperated with user surveys to analyze and discuss the development trends of the domestic power battery industry. In the first quarter, sales of new energy vehicles were 292,000 units. In 2014, with the support of policy subsidies, the new energy vehicle market experienced explosive growth, with sales of 74,800 units, a year-on-year increase of 325%. Sales volume in 2017 was 777,000 vehicles. In 2018, subsidies were reduced, causing sales growth to slow down. By the end of the year, sales volume was 1.256 million vehicles. In the first quarter of 2019, the production and sales of new energy vehicles were 304,000 and 299,000 respectively, of which the production and sales of pure electric vehicles were 226,000 and 227,000 respectively, and the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles were 78,000 and 227,000 respectively. 72,000 vehicles. As the scale of the new energy vehicle market continues to grow, the demand for power batteries is also increasing. The installed capacity of power batteries in the first quarter was 12.32GWh. Power batteries are the core components of new energy vehicles and even account for about 40% of the total cost. Before 2013, the new energy vehicle market was not yet booming, and the installed capacity of power batteries was also low. The installed capacity that year was only 0.79GWh. In 2014, with the sharp increase in the production and sales of new energy vehicles, the installed capacity of power batteries also increased relatively, reaching 3.72GWh, a year-on-year increase of 371%. However, the growth rate declined from 2016 to 2018. In 2018, the installed capacity was 56.24GWh. In the first quarter of 2019, the installed capacity was 12.32GWh. CATL continues to lead the installed capacity of power batteries. Statistics show that from January to April 2019, CATL's installed capacity of power batteries was 7.57GWh, continuing to rank first in the industry. BYD ranked second in the industry with shipments of 5.19GWh. In the current domestic power battery market, a duopoly situation between CATL and BYD has also formed, with the two accounting for up to 75% of shipments. Followed by Guoxuan Hi-Tech, Funeng Technology, Times SAIC, etc., the total installed capacity from January to April was 0.77GWh, 0.47GWh and 0.46GWh respectively. Power battery-related policies In March 2017, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Finance jointly issued the "Action Plan to Promote the Development of the Automotive Power Battery Industry", which mentioned continuing to improve the performance, quality and safety of existing products and further reducing costs. At the same time, the plan puts forward development goals. By 2020, the specific energy of the new lithium-ion power battery will exceed 300 Wh/kg, and the system specific energy will reach 260 Wh/kg. In May 2017, the "Specifications for Recycling and Dismantling of Vehicle Power Batteries" was officially released. This is the first national standard on the recycling of power batteries in China. Power battery recycling is also a weak link in the healthy development of the battery industry chain. The establishment of an industry standard system will help promote the healthy development of the industry chain. In July 2018, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the "Interim Measures for the Traceability Management of New Energy Vehicle Power Battery Recycling", which mentioned the establishment of a "new energy vehicle national testing and power battery recycling and traceability comprehensive management platform" to regulate the production, sales and use of power batteries. Collect information on processes such as scrapping, recycling, and utilization, and conduct testing on each link. Lithium-ion batteries are classified according to packaging type and have become the mainstream products on the market due to their advantages such as high energy density, long cycle life and long service life. According to packaging form, they are divided into round, square and soft-pack batteries. Among them, the soft-pack battery is a liquid lithium-ion battery covered with a polymer shell. This is also the biggest difference from other batteries. Its soft packaging material is aluminum-plastic composite film. With the development of batteries, the penetration rate of soft-pack batteries in the new energy vehicle market continues to increase. Square lithium batteries have a high penetration rate in China. With the rise of new energy vehicles, cruising range and battery capacity have become the least concerned issues. Battery manufacturers mostly use aluminum-shell square batteries with higher battery energy density. Therefore, Its structure is simple, the overall accessories are light in weight, and the relative energy density is high. At present, BYD, Lishen and Samsung mostly supply square batteries. Analysts from Sutu Research Institute believe that the number of companies producing power batteries in my country has exceeded 200, making it the country with the largest number of power batteries in the world. The huge demand has made battery cost reduction the most important direction in the industry. In addition to the cost reduction brought by the improvement of the battery system and the increase in service life, my country's current battery resource recycling system still has problems such as imperfections. It is necessary to improve recycling and reuse. It is imperative to wait for links and improve key technologies. In addition, the safety protection of power batteries is very important. As energy storage, power batteries are undoubtedly an important cause of fires in new energy vehicles. Battery safety protection is also an urgent task in the promotion of new energy vehicles.
