      According to foreign media reports, Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies has released its latest automotive-grade high-power, high-power-density fuel cell stack. This product uses the company’s graphite bipolar plate technology.       By optimizing the materials and design specifications of bipolar plates and thin-film motor components, Horizon's Dianhuan R&D center successfully achieved continuous energy density: under a full-size short stack, when the voltage is 0.6V, the energy density of each cell is 1.5W/cm2, which is twice the energy density of some automotive-grade commercial fuel cells.

      Horizon hopes to increase the energy density to 1.8W/cm2 again in the foreseeable future. Horizon's new 60-100kW, high energy density, low-cost automotive-grade fuel cell stack will be commercialized by the end of 2019.

      HorizonGroup said that when it comes to the commercial appeal of fuel cell systems, battery energy density per square centimeter is much more important than volumetric energy density. Doubling the battery energy density means that the volumetric energy density will also double, while also halving the cost of materials, laying the foundation for large-scale commercial operation of fuel cell vehicles in the short term.

      Horizon also combines the research and development results of bipolar plate technology with recent advances in highly automated manufacturing processes. The latter positions fuel cell combinations and core raw materials to help users achieve hitherto unattainable cost structures involving both fuel cells and fuel cells. vehicles, and also involves fuel cell power generation applications.

      The company recently signed a memorandum of cooperation with global users on automotive-grade fuel cell systems and fuel cell power generation equipment, aiming to use by-product hydrogen to provide 40MW of electricity.
