At present, the power lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles mainly consist of three chemical systems: nickel hydrogen batteries, lithium-ion batteries, and fuel powered lithium-ion batteries. The latter two are called ternary systems. Our judgment is that we have basically mastered the key technologies of lithium-ion batteries for automotive power. The development of lithium-ion batteries in China is basically synchronized with the overall vehicle. During the "Tenth Five Year Plan" period, we conducted research and development work on nickel hydrogen batteries, lithium manganese oxide lithium-ion batteries, and fuel power lithium-ion batteries. During the 11th Five Year Plan period, we increased the research and development and industrialization of lithium iron phosphate batteries. During the 12th Five Year Plan period, we promoted the research and development and industrialization of ternary material batteries. At present, we are in such a stage.
Technically speaking, China has developed nickel metal hydride batteries and lithium-ion fuel power lithium batteries, with key technical indicators reaching the advanced level of similar products abroad. At present, lithium-ion batteries in China can achieve a system specific energy of 800-1000 watt hours, a specific power of 500-100 watt hours, a cycle life of over 1000 times, a service life of about 5 years, and a cost of about 3 yuan per watt hour. Secondly, from a product perspective, lithium iron phosphate batteries have matured. In the past, the batteries supplied by China supported the development of the industry. At present, most of the batteries used for large-scale demonstrations are domestically produced.
