Graphene has good electrical and thermal conductivity, high mechanical strength, flexibility and transparency. Therefore, it can be widely used in secondary batteries, displays and other fields. When synthesizing graphene through the general chemical vapor deposition method, transfer engineering must be carried out on other substrates. However, many problems will arise in this process, such as overcoming internal bonding, adhesion problems with the substrate, and graphene crystallographic planes. The area size and control interface, as well as the wrinkles on the graphene surface leading to poor properties and other problems.

The research team found that titanium and graphene have the same crystal structure and have a very strong binding force with carbon. Using the research results of titanium to remove wrinkles from graphene, a graphene synthesis technology was developed on a 10nm thick titanium layer. This technology can synthesize high-quality graphene under low temperature conditions of 150 degrees, greatly improving the efficiency and applicability of the project.

The research team stated that this research can make up for the shortcomings of existing graphene materials and directly develop new concepts of large-area graphene manufacturing technology. Graphene can not only be used in transparent and soft electronic components, but can also replace existing metal electrodes such as gold and copper.
