Electric vehicle lithium batteries are mainly divided into three categories: first, ternary lithium, which is currently the most commonly used type of lithium battery; Secondly, lithium iron phosphate; Thirdly, lithium titanate. Lithium titanate has a low popularity and low usage rate.

What is the service life of lithium batteries for electric vehicles? Many people struggle with the lifespan of lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles. How long can a set of electric vehicle lithium batteries last? Why can some people use lithium batteries for 2-3 years, and even some can use them for 3-5 years? In fact, the service life of most lithium batteries is designed to be around 1000 cycles (ordinary ternary lithium battery materials), which is 3-4 years.

What is the service life of lithium batteries for electric vehicles? How long can lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles last? I believe the vast majority of consumers have heard that the lifespan of lithium batteries is "1000 times", with 1000 charges and discharges. Beyond this number, the battery will "die". Many friends, in order to extend the lifespan of the battery, charge it every time the battery is completely depleted. Does this really have an effect on extending the lifespan of the battery? The answer is no. The lifespan of a lithium battery is "1000 times", which refers not to the number of charges, but to one charging and discharging cycle.

A charging cycle means the process of charging the battery from full to empty, and then from empty to full, which is not equivalent to charging once. For example, a lithium battery only uses half of its battery capacity on the first day, and then charges it slowly. If this continues the next day, that is, charging half of it and charging it twice in total, it can only be counted as one charging cycle, not two. Therefore, it may usually take several charges to complete a cycle. Every time a charging cycle is completed, the battery capacity will decrease slightly.

However, this low battery level is very small. After multiple cycles of charging, high-quality lithium batteries still retain 80% of their original capacity, and many lithium-ion powered products are still in normal use after two to three years. Of course, lithium batteries in electric vehicles still need to be replaced after their lifespan reaches the end. The so-called 500 times refers to the manufacturer achieving about 625 charging cycles at a constant discharge depth, reaching 500 charging cycles. Due to various impacts in real life, especially the discharge depth during charging is not constant, "500 charging cycles" can only be used as a reference for the lifespan of lithium batteries.

Lithium phosphate battery is a type of lithium-ion battery. At present, the charging frequency of lithium phosphate batteries can reach 2000 times, and the cycle life can reach 7-8 years. It can be fully charged in 60 minutes at a time, which is incomparable to ordinary lead-acid batteries. The price is about twice that of lead-acid batteries of the same capacity.
