Lithium battery shell design can be divided into: PVC heat seal, plastic, metal
PVC heat sealing: the specific enclosure packaging form used for the external part of the battery pack mainly depends on the specific needs of customers. For the packaging form using PVC heat sealing, it is generally applicable to the case that the number of cells in series and parallel is small and the overall weight is light (≤ 2kg). However, for the battery pack with the overall weight ≥ 1kg, it is necessary to add a fixed bracket between the battery cells, and then use PVC heat sealing after adding fiberglass board to protect the periphery.
Plastic: The plastic shell is used. It is mainly because after the shaping of different battery packs, the shells involved may need to be molded, and the mold cost is a large expense. For example, in the early stage of development, if the product is not shaped, the prototype shell can be used for proofing (the strength of the prototype is not as strong as the strength of the material after the shaping). Different requirements for the shell material and process (especially with the requirements of three proofing) will also affect the cost.
Metal: The metal shell is the same as the plastic shell. Before the product is finalized or the quantity demand is small, it is recommended to use sheet metal for sample preparation. This is mainly because the sample preparation and delivery time is short. If the batch is large, it is also recommended to open the mold. For metal shells with waterproof grade requirements, the cost will also be greatly affected, and for metal shells with special materials (such as titanium alloy), the cost will be higher.
