    The power group uses lithium-ion batteries. The charged lithium-ion batteries need voltage, discharge voltage, overcurrent, and short circuit protection. In order to achieve the problem of balanced charging of the entire battery during the charging process, a section introduces the battery protection function of the lithium-ion battery protection chip with any number of level arrays including balanced charging of lithium-ion battery protection board design. Simulation results and industrial applications show that the protection board has the advantages of complete protection function, stable operation, high cost performance, and charging error balance less than 50mV.

     

    Common balanced charging technologies include: constant shunt resistor balanced charging, switch shunt resistor balanced charging, average battery voltage balanced charging, switch capacitor balanced charging, buck converter balanced charging, inductor balanced charging, etc. When lithium-ion batteries are charged in series, each battery must be charged evenly, otherwise it will affect the performance and life of the entire battery during use. However, the existing single-chip lithium-ion battery protection chip does not have a balanced charging control function, and the balanced charging control function of multiple lithium-ion battery protection chips requires an external CPU. Through serial communication with the protection chip (such as I2C bus), the complexity and design difficulty of the protection circuit are increased, the efficiency and reliability of the system are reduced, and the power consumption is increased.

    The number of protection chips for a single lithium-ion battery should be determined according to the number of lithium-ion battery packs and the series connection to be used to protect the corresponding single lithium-ion battery from charging, discharging, overcurrent, and short circuit. While charging protection, balanced charging is achieved by protecting the chip and controlling the on and off of the parallel discharge branch switch device. This method is different from the traditional charger-side balanced charging, which reduces the design and application cost of lithium-ion battery chargers.
