The use of isolation transformers in 102450 lipo battery supply systems
UPS manufacturers introduce the use of isolation transformers in UPS power supply systems. Isolation transformers are safe power supplies, generally used for machine maintenance and repair for protection, lightning protection, and filtering. Isolation transformers are usually designed at the output end of the inverter in UPS power supplies, which can be used to increase UPS performance and improve the power supply quality at the load end. This article introduces the use of isolation transformers in UPS power supply systems.
UPS manufacturers introduce the use of isolation transformers in UPS power supply systems
Isolation transformers are power frequency transformers operating at a frequency of 50Hz. In UPS uninterruptible power supply systems, isolation transformers are an important component.
The reason why isolation transformers are configured in UPS power supply systems is that some are required by the UPS power supply equipment itself, and the transformer is an important component of the UPS power supply circuit; some are set to improve the system power supply quality; and some are set to match the voltage settings required by the power grid and the load equipment.
When the DC/AC inverter of the UPS power supply is composed of a full-bridge circuit, an isolation transformer must be added to the output end. The transformer has two important functions in the traditional double-conversion UPS power supply circuit structure: First, it completes the boost function in the two voltage conversions to ensure that the UPS power supply can output a stable 380V/220V rated voltage under the lower limit of the grid voltage and full output load;
Second, it supplies the neutral line for the three-phase output of the full-bridge inverter of the traditional double-conversion UPS power supply to meet the power supply requirements of the single-phase input power load. Therefore, the output isolation transformer is an essential component of the traditional conversion UPS power supply circuit structure.
The output isolation transformer of the UPS power supply has the following four advantages
1) Filter out the harmonics at the load end and improve the power supply quality
The isolation transformer itself has inductive characteristics. The output isolation transformer of the UPS power supply can filter out a large number of low-order harmonics at the load end, reduce high-frequency interference, and can greatly attenuate high-order harmonics. The use of power isolation transformers can effectively suppress noise interference in the AC power supply, eliminate interference, and improve the electromagnetic compatibility of equipment.
2) Reduce the neutral-ground voltage and optimize the UPS terminal power supply network
The UPS inverter output is equipped with an isolation transformer to isolate the electrical connection between the input and output, thereby effectively reducing the output neutral-ground voltage. Since the secondary winding of the isolation transformer adopts a Y-type connection, a new neutral line appears after the neutral point is grounded, thereby achieving the purpose of reducing the neutral-ground voltage.
3) "Pass AC and block DC", protect the load when the UPS fails
In modern UPS power supplies, the AC/DC conversion part adopts a high-frequency design, which improves the input power factor (above 0.98) and input voltage range of the UPS, and the high-frequency DC/AC inverter part reduces the volume of the output filter inductor and has a high power density. The output isolation transformer has the ability to "pass AC and block DC", which can solve such problems and enable the load to operate safely when the UPS power fails.
4) Enhance overload and short-circuit protection capabilities and isolate safe loads
Due to its own characteristics, the isolation transformer is the most stable device in the UPS power supply. During the normal operation of UPS, if a large short-circuit current is encountered, the transformer will have a reverse electromotive force, delaying the impact and damage of the short-circuit current on the load and the inverter, thereby protecting the load and the UPS host.
The above is the functional use of the isolation transformer in the UPS power supply system. The UPS uninterruptible power supply output terminal is connected to the isolation transformer to utilize its ability to isolate the grounding point and transform the voltage.
