Analysis of NiMH No. 7 battery charging principle and precautions

NiMH No. 7 battery charging principle

Lead-acid battery electrodes are lead and its oxides, and the electrolyte is sulfuric acid solution. During discharge, the positive electrode is mainly a lead-antimony-calcium alloy plate, which contains lead oxide as an active substance, and the negative electrode active substance is lead. During charging, the positive and negative electrodes are lead sulfate. During charging, an external DC power supply should be connected to restore the substances generated by the positive and negative plates after discharge to the original active substances, and convert the external electrical energy into chemical energy for storage.

    1. When floating charging the NiMH No. 7 battery, please use a charging voltage of 2.275V/cell (set value at 20) for constant voltage charging or a current of less than 0.002CA for constant current charging. When the temperature is below 0C or above 40C, it is necessary to correct the charging voltage. Taking 20C as the starting point, the cell voltage changes by -3mv for every degree change.

    2. During cyclic charging, the charging voltage is 2.40-2.50V/cell (set value at 20), and constant voltage charging is performed. When charging at a temperature below 5C or above 35, take 20as the starting point, and adjust the charging voltage by -4mv/cell for each degree change.

    3. The initial current of NiMH No. 7 battery charging is controlled below 0.25CA.

    4. The charging amount is set to 100-120% of the discharge amount, but when the ambient temperature is below 5C, it is set to 120-130%.

    5. The lower the temperature (below 5C), the longer the charging end time, and the higher the temperature (above 35C), the easier it is to overcharge. Therefore, especially when using it in a cycle, it is better to charge within 5C~30C.

    6. To prevent overcharging, try to install a charging timer, or automatically switch to trickle charging mode.

    7. The NiMH No. 7 battery temperature should be controlled within the range of -15C~+40C during charging.

Precautions for NiMH No. 7 battery charging

Strictly abide by the charging specifications of various charging methods.

During the charging process, pay attention to the measurement of the voltage and electrolyte density of each single NiMH No. 7 battery, and judge its charging level and technical status in time.

During the charging process, pay attention to the temperature rise of each single battery to prevent the temperature from being too high and affecting the performance of the battery. If necessary, use air cooling or water cooling to cool it down.

The initial charging work should be carried out continuously and should not be interrupted for a long time.

When preparing and filling the electrolyte, strictly abide by the safety operating procedures and the rules for the use of utensils.

When charging, cold water and 10% soda water or 10% ammonia water should be prepared to deal with splashed electrolyte.
