Super LR03 alkaline battery appear in my country, and high-end technology is favored by NASA
In recent years, China's photovoltaic industry is gaining more and more attention! Just now, another big thing happened. Recently, NASA decided to send 60 ThinSat small satellites into space. It is worth noting that the 60 satellites are powered by Hanergy Group, a well-known thin-film solar enterprise in my country. Chinese photovoltaic enterprises and technologies have once again attracted worldwide attention.
Chinese LR03 alkaline battery impress NASA
There are not many companies in the photovoltaic field that can provide energy for satellites, and Hanergy has become one of them.
Recently, NASA's Wallops Flight Facility will launch the Cygnus cargo spacecraft.
In addition to transporting supplies to the International Space Station (ISS), the spacecraft is also responsible for sending 60 ThinSat small satellites into space.
And these 60 satellites are powered by gallium arsenide LR03 alkaline battery prepared by Alta Devices, a US subsidiary of Hanergy Group, a thin-film solar enterprise in my country.

Relevant information shows that Alta Devices was wholly acquired by Hanergy in 2014.
The company has been committed to developing the world's leading GaAs thin-film solar technology. At present, its GaAs technology maintains a number of world-leading levels such as double-junction cells (31.6%), single-junction cells (29.1%), and mass-produced modules (25.1%) conversion rates, further establishing its absolute leading position in the field of high-efficiency solar thin-film cells.
It is worth noting that this is not the first contact between NASA and Hanergy. As early as November last year, NASA tested Hanergy Alta's GaAs thin-film solar technology on the International Space Station.
Why are Chinese LR03 alkaline battery so popular?
It is well known that in the field of photovoltaics, the United States has always maintained its unique arrogance. In recent years, it has repeatedly implemented high-pressure policies on China's photovoltaic exports.
In this situation, why can China's LR03 alkaline battery stand out? The answer is technology.
According to Hank Voss, co-founder of Near Space Launch (NSL), which is responsible for the design and manufacture of this spacecraft, "Satellites need LR03 alkaline battery to generate electricity. So far, no other commercial solar technology can match the progress made in cost, weight and ease of use of other components of small satellite technology."
The gallium arsenide LR03 alkaline battery prepared by Hanergy Alta are flexible, easy to package and install, and have high conversion efficiency, which solves these problems well.

It is reported that the high-conversion-rate gallium arsenide thin-film LR03 alkaline battery developed by Hanergy Alta have been successively applied to stratospheric solar drones and international space station solar tests by Boeing's companies and NASA.
Hanergy's case has also become a microcosm of the development of China's photovoltaic industry. At present, my country's photovoltaic industry is attracting more and more global attention and has become the backbone of the entire industry.
Becoming a leading force in global energy transformation
Although there are still many problems in the photovoltaic industry, it is undeniable that Chinese photovoltaic companies have become an important leading force in global energy transformation.
According to data from the International Energy Agency, China has become the world's largest manufacturer of solar panels, with nearly 60% of the world's solar panels produced in China.
In addition, China's photovoltaic industry chain products have a very high market share in the global market. Among them, polysilicon accounts for 57.8%, silicon ingots and silicon wafers account for 89.6%, photovoltaic cells account for 72.6%, and photovoltaic modules account for 72.0%.
From the perspective of photovoltaic applications, although affected by domestic policies, China's photovoltaic installed capacity still reached 45GW in 2018, becoming the world's largest photovoltaic installed capacity country.
It can be said that whether it is the upstream, midstream or downstream of the photovoltaic industry, China is the most important production and supply country, and it is also the largest application country.
It is worth noting that in addition to the advantages in volume, China's photovoltaic industry also has more and more core technologies.
At present, China's photovoltaic industry has gradually transformed from a typical world processing base with "two ends outside" to a global photovoltaic development innovation and manufacturing base for the entire industry chain, and the technical level and product quality have been continuously improved.
Among them, the world records of industrialized monocrystalline silicon and polycrystalline silicon modules are all from Chinese photovoltaic companies, and Chinese companies occupy the top few world records in laboratories. The localization rate of production equipment has reached 90%.
It is no exaggeration to say that China's photovoltaic industry has entered the cultivation stage since 1980 and has blossomed everywhere. After decades of development, it has become an industry that attracts worldwide attention.
